Ribbon Bio Appoints Jay Therrien as Chief Business Officer

08.09.2026

Cell-free DNA assembly pioneer, Ribbon Bio, has today announced the appointment of Jay Therrien as Chief Business Officer. Therrien joins Ribbon's executive leadership team where he will lead the company's commercial strategy and growth initiatives.

Therrien brings over two decades of experience building and leading commercial organizations across the life sciences and genomics sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Ultima Genomics and previously held executive leadership roles at IDEX Health & Science, RainDance Technologies, Life Technologies and Illumina. Throughout his career, Therrien has helped launch several breakthrough technologies, including multiplex genotyping, digital PCR and next-generation sequencing platforms, supporting a wide range of genomic applications across the research and clinical markets.

As Chief Business Officer, Therrien will lead Ribbon Bio's efforts to expand adoption of its cell-free DNA solutions, with immediate focus on the company's recently launched MiroMine™ kit, which enables customers to access Ribbon Bio's powerful assembly algorithms and cell-free synthesis processes in their own labs.

"After taking a close look at Ribbon's technology, operations and long-term market opportunity, it became clear that the company is uniquely positioned to help shape the future of DNA synthesis, while catalyzing a transition away from legacy cloning methods," said Jay Therrien, Chief Business Officer at Ribbon Bio. "I'm thrilled to join Ribbon at this time, as demand for increasingly intricate DNA molecules continues to grow. It is especially exciting to highlight that using Ribbon's MiroMine kits does not require any unique, single-purpose lab instrumentation or capital equipment. The ability to immediately use the MiroMine™ kit in a lab is one of many reasons we expect a rapid adoption of Ribbon's technology. We look forward to supporting customers as they generate high-fidelity, cell-free DNA constructs in their own labs, freeing themselves from cloning."

"We're delighted to welcome Jay to Ribbon's executive team," said Jodi Barrientos, Chief Executive Officer of Ribbon Bio. "His extensive commercial experience and track record of success will be invaluable as we continue to scale the business and advance our vision for the future of DNA synthesis."
