26.10.2023

Ranked 95th in the prestigious university ranking in terms of categories

In the recently published Times Higher Education World University Ranking by Subject, MedUni Vienna achieved 95th place in the "Clinical and Health" subject group, making it one of the world's top 100.

The University of Oxford (UK) came first, followed by Harvard University (USA) and the University of Cambridge (UK). The best continental European university is the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) in 16th place. Of the German-speaking universities, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin (27), the University of Heidelberg (35), Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (50), ETH Zurich (51), the University of Zurich (60), TU Munich (65), the University of Bern (70) and the University of Basel (91) are still ahead of MedUni Vienna. Other Austrian universities are not represented in the top 100.

The THE University Ranking is based on 18 indicators from the areas of research, teaching, citations, internationalization and the acquisition of third-party funding from industry. The two most important factors are, on the one hand, the survey of around 40,000 scientists on the topics of teaching and research and, on the other hand, bibliometric indicators such as publications and citations - they each contribute around one third to the overall result. About the methodology
