WWTF: Funding decision Life Sciences 2019 Multimodal Imaging

The Life Sciences thematic call programme started in 2003 and is the longest standing programme of the fund. The life sciences play an important role and are strongly represented in the research landscape of Vienna, ranging from basic research to translational research. Hence, the fund has opened calls throughout the years with thematic focuses within these different areas of research: ranging from "Molecular Mechanisms and Methods" to "Personalized Medicine", spanning over other topics such as "Imaging" and "Nutritional Sciences". The calls address researchers in many different areas such as biology, biotechnology, medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, bioengineering and related fields. In addition, strong emphasis is put on interdisciplinary and collaborative work between departments and institutes to foster interactive partnerships. 

Life Sciences call 2019 - Multimodal Imaging

The project call “Multimodal Imaging” within the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) Life Sciences Programme invited researchers at universities and non-university research institutions in Vienna, including those moving to Vienna, who want to conduct a cutting-edge research project (2 to 4 years) in the field of multimodal bioimaging. Proposals should address an important question in the life sciences and develop novel multimodal imaging approaches and data integration methods. Proposals should bring together researchers from complementary scientific disciplines such as biology/biomedical researchers, bioimaging specialists and computational scientists to foster interactive partnerships across Vienna. In total € 4 million were dedicated to this call. The funding range per project was € 200,000 to € 700,000.
