Quality Standards for Biobanks
Tuesday, 13.06.2017, 13:30-17:30
Reproducibility and Reliability of (bio-)medical Research results strongly depends on the quality of used biomaterials.
To ensure a high sample quality, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has published a series of Technical Specifications (TS), which will also be relevant to research facilities as a future ISO standard. It defines requirements for pre-analytical processes – from sample collection to long-term storage. The objective of this event is to present these quality standards for biobanks and then discuss the significance and requirements and challenges that arise with them in small groups directly with experts (World Café).
Content of the event:
• Introduction to the importance of quality standards for biobanks
• Short presentation of the different CEN / TS for pre-analytical processes (rapid fire lectures)
• Information and discussion of the requirements and challenges of standards in the research context with experts (World Café)

Who is behind WTC West?
Creating a common knowledge and making it as accessible to the public as possible for both sides: In the joint work of the universities of Salzburg, Innsbruck and Linz, a common culture of the transfer of knowledge and the mutual use of potentials is to be developed. All stakeholders of the WTZ West, economy and industry will profit from it.
